Luxembourg + Co.’s spring exhibition features paintings by Jannis Kounellis, organised in collaboration with contemporary artist Christian Marclay who has curated a performance series accompanying the exhibition. At the heart of the project are two important experiments in painting by Kounellis (1936-2017) from the early 1970s in which classical music scores are embedded into oil painted abstract compositions to be performed by musicians and dancers live in the gallery space.
A series of live performances curated by Marclay will accompany the exhibition throughout its duration, including the enactment of Kounellis’ Untitled (1971) by Emily Henderson (Cello) and Doraly Gill (Cello) and Da Inventare Sul Posto (1972) by Hugo Max (violin) and Kate Hester (ballerina).
